Supporting Workshops At The Princess Basma Center For Development

Ayla Oasis Development Company has Royal Patronage in community support agreement

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal, Ayla Oasis Development Company signs an agreement to support local women’s committees.

Deputising for HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal, on the occasions of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day; Mrs. Farah Daghistani headed the celebration of honoring 30 women from the local women’s committees.

The event was organised by Ayla Oasis Development Company, in collaboration with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund – Princess Basma Center for Development in Aqaba. During this event, Ayla Oasis signed an agreement to support a handicrafts and sewing workshop at the Princess Basma Center for Development in Aqaba, which is part of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund.

The agreement involves providing sustainable support to the workers in the handicrafts and sewing workshop, which shall serve to train and rehabilitate 15 women. Ayla Oasis shall, as per this agreement; provide the funding to purchase the equipment, designs, and supplies for the first phase of the project, whereas the Princess Basma Center shall manage and supervise the workshop.

Commenting on the agreement, The CEO of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund, Mrs. Daghistani said, “I have great pride in the initiatives made by Ayla Oasis Development Company, starting with this event; which aimed to honor the members of the local women’s committees, and the signing of this agreement, which support the handicrafts and sewing workshop, on which many women are dependent on, and which allows them to either depend on a specific vocation, or even establish their own business. This is also the ideal opportunity to provide the local market with items that are high in demand, like hand-embroidered items, and uniforms for workers in various sectors and industries in Aqaba”.

The majority of the women in Aqaba work, they are perceived as an added value to their community, contributing considerably to the support of their families, in addition to enhancing the productivity of the governorate of Aqaba. They are also active in the local committees, and the income-generating projects that are supervised by the Princess Basma Center for Development.

Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, Eng. Sahel Dudin said: “I have to stress on the importance of signing such partnership agreements with the local committees.

It is indeed crucial to support and enhance their capabilities, and advance the standards of the members of these committees, by providing an exemplary working environment & production opportunity for them, and consequently enrich the governorate of Aqaba with unique hand-made items, thus enhancing the income of families and the local communities.
