Ayla Women Football Team Organizes a Campaign to Clean up Ayla Islamic City’s Site

In compliance with its support of sustainable development goals

As a part of its strategy of social responsibility for environment protection, and in cooperation with the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) and Directorate of Aqaba Antiquities, Ayla Oasis Development Company organized on Tuesday the 25^th of August the Clean-up of Ayla Islamic City’s Site campaign.

This campaign in which Ayla Women Football Team took part aims at protecting the environment and enhancing the sustainability of the areas near the beach, which is in compliance of the Team with supporting the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and with contribution to the Site’s historical and civilizational legacy maintenance.

Ayla Women Football Team embodies Ayla’s support of the 17 SDGs adopted by the UN since 2015. The Team represents the 14^th goal, which is the ‘Marine Life’ and the necessity to maintain and use the waterbodies and beaches in a sustainable manner to realize development.

The cleanup campaign launched at Ayla’s Islamic Site was a part of the Team’s activities of nature and biological diversity protection in waterbodies, beaches and sites by sea such as Ayla Islamic City. This highlights the importance of protecting and preparing the historical and archeological sites by sea in a suitable way to receive national and international tourism when it is resumed, and to support the objective of waterbody protection from pollution caused by the sites near the beach.

Ayla Women Football Team highlight the increasing challenges confronting the wildlife and they use sport as a means of raising environmental awareness and education and launching initiatives throughout the year, especially with respect to biological diversity protection. Ayla Oasis Development Company greatly care to protect the environment; and for the sake of achieving such goals, it implements protection programs in connection with nature, environment and marine maintenance culture at a broad community and national level, which allows sustainable development to be realized.
