Ayla Oasis Development Company held the first its kind training workshop on mosaic art in cooperation with the Directorate of Tourism of the Aqaba Governorate. The workshop comes as part of Ayla’s continuous efforts to support and develop the local community in Aqaba.

The workshop, which was attended by 17 participants from community associations in Aqaba, falls within Ayla’s social responsibility strategy framework that supports initiatives aimed at developing the local community through the rehabilitation and training of young women and men while providing them with a new and important handcraft needed by the tourism sector in Aqaba to help them enter the labor market.

Ayla’s Managing Director, Sahl Dudin said, “Since its establishment in the city of Aqaba, Ayla has been committed to implementing its societal role in addition to its economic and investment roles, with the aim of contributing to achieving the vision of creating comprehensive and sustainable development in the city. The mosaic training workshop is part of these efforts and reinforces the partnership principles between public and private sectors through our cooperation with the Aqaba Governorate Directorate of Tourism.”

Dudin stressed the importance of the workshop, which is the first of its kind in the mosaic art training field in the Aqaba Governorate, pointing out that on one hand, this workshop will help teach the young a new craft and profession that will help them enter the labor market, and on the other hand, it sheds light on the history of mosaic art going back to Roman and Byzantine ages.

For his part, the Director of Tourism in the Aqaba Governorate, Imad Rawahneh, confirmed that the partnership with Ayla is a model for the public and private sectors, pointing out that this partnership was reflected in the joint cooperation and the holding of varied workshops in a way that serves the development goals in Aqaba Governorate.

Rawahneh pointed out the importance of the workshop in qualifying the youth and easing their entry to the labor market, in addition to exporting the mosaic paintings they produce abroad.
